Chocolate Torte

Chocolate Torte

Yield: 1 Torte

4 Tbsp melted butter
3/8 C sugar
1 egg
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 C cocoa powder
3 Tbsp flour
small handful chocolate chips

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Combine butter and sugar until well mixed
  • Mix in remaining ingredients, mixing between each addition
  • Pour batter into mini-skillet (approx 5 inches)
  • Bake for 14-17 minutes

This chocolate torte is a bit of a secret, so shhhh!  It looks and tastes way fancier than it really is.  The key is cooking it until it still has just the slightest bit of under-done in the center.  Check this by tilting the pan and if the center moves ever so slightly, it's just right! 

Add any variations that you like - for Mexican Hot Chocolate add 1/4 tsp chili powder and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.  Serve with fruit, homemade whipped cream, or a homemade salted caramel drizzle with just a little crack of sea salt on top.
