Covid-19 Response
Extra Care at Aldrich Guest House

Video Transcript
Covid-19 Actions we're taking

Hello Everyone!

We're open and looking forward to seeing you and so is Galena!
We want to let you know all the things we're doing to follow Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as well as what's happening in Galena.

Regarding cleanliness, we've always been known for our this and attention to detail, but we're re-doubling our efforts.
You'll see us using CDC recommended disinfects on frequently touched surfaces like:

  • Door handles
  • Railings and
  • Tables and chairs

In guestrooms we are triple sheeting all of our beds. This way you can be sure that you're never sleeping with a duvet or quilt that some properties don't wash between every guest.
We've removed throw pillows, water bottles, pens, and guestbooks but you can still leave your review on Google and TripAdvisor!

Each guest room also has its own HVAC unit meaning that there's no central air moving through other guest rooms and into yours. Plus, you get to control the temperature!
We LOVE fresh air and we keep the windows open as often as possible. While many hotel windows open just a crack, if at all, ours open nice and wide letting in fresh, clean Galena air.

When it comes to distancing, for breakfast as well as drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the evening, we are able to keep folks spread out throughout the house. We are able to accommodate up to 2 rooms in the dining room, one in the library, one in the parlor, 2 rooms on the screened in porch, and we're providing in-room breakfast as a complimentary option so you get to choose where you feel most comfortable.

Regarding masks, you'll see us wearing them when we are cooking and serving food and drinks as well as when guest interactions don't allow us to maintain the CDC recommended social distance. We understand that all of our guests have different situations both personally and at home so we have decided to err on the side of caution when it comes to this.
Speaking of masks, make sure to bring yours - Illinois requires customers to wear masks inside stores and restaurants when not eating and drinking if they are able to be tolerated medically.

Perfect segway to what's happening in Galena!  Starting June 26, 2020, retail stores are open with limited capacity.
Restaurants are available for curbside pick up, delivery, outdoor dining, as well as limited indoor dining. The City has even closed a large part of Main Street to make sure that there's as much room as possible for outdoor dining and pedestrians. We're happy to make reservations for you if you'd like to dine out and are also able to provide plates, silverware, etc if you decide to bring your dinner back to Aldrich Guest House.

Outdoor Activities are abundant! All of the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation properties and State Parks are open and available - within a 7 minute drive, you can get to two of our favorites, Horseshoe Mound and Casper Bluffs. Also, Fever River Outfitters is renting canoes, kayaks, electric bikes, and trail bikes so there's no excuse to not get out and enjoy the great outdoors!

That about wraps it up! Of course, things are always changing and we'll do our best to keep you updated with what's happening here at Aldrich Guest House and Galena. If you have any questions, let us know and we'll be happy to help out and when you're ready, give us a call or make your reservation on our website at aldrichguesthouse.com. We're looking forward to seeing you and being part of your well-deserved time away!
