Fall is in the air!

And that means it's time to for warm fires in the evenings and warm spices in our meals. Take a look at how we keep breakfast seasonal in Autumn!

It's that time of year when things start changing. The leaves turn, the temperatures start to remind us that we live in the Midwest, we're able to wear sweaters again, down comforters are on the beds, and people start losing their minds over Pumpkin Spice Everything!

Stick with what's fresh

One important thing that we do with every change in season is change up our breakfasts. Our cocktail menu changes as well, but that's another post... To find inspiration, we don't have to look much further than the produce section at the grocery store to see what is fresh and in season. And don't forget to pay attention to your own tastes since those seem to naturally change with the seasons!

Easy variations

As it gets cooler, we start to think of those comfort foods, warm spices, pumpkins, and apples. One of our most versatile breakfasts is our Baked French Toast. While the posted recipe is for Raspberry Cream Cheese French Toast, you can easily take those two ingredients out and add in some chopped apples tossed in cinnamon and sugar. Or instead of that, substitute some pumpkin puree (if you've got time, make your own or just use the canned - no judgements here!) and some cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of clove.

Bring on the maple syrup!

Maple syrup also comes into its own in the Fall and anything maple bourbon is a treat - you can do it with the baked french toast or one of our favorites is a maple bacon waffle with a bourbon maple syrup on top!
Here's the deal with keeping things seasonal - it's hard to go wrong! Afterall, that's why pumpkin spice lattes are so popular. Find a few ingredients/tastes/foods that you like and see what you can do. Not sure what is good for the fall? Keep an eye on your grocery store produce section and you'll see certain foods taking up more shelf space. Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, lots of different kinds of apples, and give those pie pumpkins a spin to see how you can use those! Don't have any recipes to use those things? That's easy, afterall, it's 2019 and Google is in nearly everyone's pocket. Just type in the ingredients with the word recipe and you're sure to find something great!

And remember, it's just cooking - we're not sending a person to the moon here. If it's gross, that's what the frozen pizza that you keep stocked is for!

Show us how you keep your meals seasonal! Tag us in any photos you post, especially if they're from any of our recipes - we'd love to see what great things you're coming up with!
