At
our 1845 Greek Revival home, built by Cyrus Aldrich, a member of the
Illinois General Assembly and veteran Whig, the Aldrich House retains all
the elements of its original style and elegance. Our historic Galena Illinois
Bed and Breakfast offers the quiet of General Grant’s residential neighborhood
with the ease of close proximity to Main Street.
The Aldrich Guest House has five gracefully appointed guest rooms each with queen beds, private baths, some with fireplaces, and the comfort of central air conditioning.
For
indoor relaxation, guests can enjoy the double parlor. A large fireplace,
music, period antiques and comfortable sofas offer a space for reading,
relaxing, playing cards or just visiting friends, new or old. We offer
a guest library with TV/DVD, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and
complimentary wine hour before your evening plans.
Turn down service available on request.
Our classic Galena Bed and Breakfast has been known for its hospitality since the 1850's entertaining such figures as U.S. Grant and Abe Lincoln. Today, guests gather each morning in the formal dining room, where a full, hot breakfast is served enhanced by candlelight and great conversation.
Stepping directly out from the dining room is the screened porch. Guests
enjoy swings and gliders while overlooking extensive gardens. The gardens
grow on the ground where General Grant trained the Northern Troops. On
lovely weather days, guests can stroll through our several flower gardens
which include a special tranquil shade garden in the back wooded area.
